And now for a Pop Culture Post

Reading today's Penny Arcade comic put me in the mood to watch The Karate Kid. When you read the comic you'll see why. But that led me to think about another television show I have discovered, and that I enjoy, called Into Character. This week's episode features two friends training in the martial arts to enact the final scene from...you guessed it The Karate Kid. I don't know if this show is good or not, yes I've seen the episode and watch the show regularly, but for some reason I am forced automaton-like to tune in and watch the shenanigans (sp?).

I personally can't wait until someone wants to play Cole Trickle or Maverick or Luke Skywalker.

The biggest problem with the show is that it's on AMC (American Movie Classics). I don't know how you can, without irony, call yourself American Movie Classics when you show more AIP films than the local drive-in, have commercials, censor, and don't letterbox your films. That sounds more like VHF than American Movie Classics. But that's just me. Turner Movie Classics is much better for watching movies (well classic movies), but AMC is more likely to have the Corman/Price marathon at Halloween so it can't be all bad.

Contemplate this on the Tree of Woe.
