Classic Pulp Era Reviews
This page includes an archive of reviews and commentary I write about stories from the heyday of Pulp Fiction. These reviews include stories from the much discussed Appendix N of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Masters Guide (sic) and beyond.
Reading Northwest Smith
Northwest Smith was likely Catherine Lucille Moore’s most iconic literary character and is often cited as the inspiration for Han Solo. While that connection was a good way to attempt to convince Gen X and Millennial readers to give the stories a try, there are other elements that are more worth examining from my perspective. In particular, I am drawn in by the way that Moore combined the genres of Planetary Romance, Westerns, Classic Horror, and Weird Fiction to create a very unique Terran solar system.
