I had a conversation with David Drake at a con a few years before he died. He held the rights to MWW's stuff at that point and was open to licensing it. I don't know who would hold them now.
I liked the Shanokins and updated them as Shadowkin in some Kolchak fan fiction.
I owe Mike Mignola thanks for introducing me to Wellman; he mentioned the Silver John stories in the introduction to a collection that had Hellboy's The Crooked Man in it. I loved the Crooked Man so much, I spent waaaaay too much money on Night Shade Press's 5-book Wellman Collection.
Thank you for this article and the links within, I've learned some things about one of my favorite authors.
Wellman was a superb writer, particularly gifted at creating the right atmosphere for his pieces. He covered a vast swath of fiction and non-fiction writings, and all I have encountered of his writing has been impressive.
While I own a good amount of Wellman fiction anthologies, I love reading the original stories in the genre magazines when I can find them. He published in such a wide variety that I am always impressed.

He did comics, too, back in the day.
