John Darnielle (from Mountain Goats) deals with the misunderstanding of Sabbath's lyrics in his 33 1/3 book on Master of Reality. It's in the form a fictional journal of a young adult locked in a psychiatric center. He knows the staff is reading his journal, and he uses it to make the case for getting back his confiscated cassettes and to explain how they have his beloved Black Sabbath all wrong. Writing about "After Forever" he says "Ozzy was one of you guys! He was on your side the whole time, but you wouldn't even listen to him to find out! I spent hours every day trying to get you to let me listen to some guy spreading the exact same message that Blue Cross was paying you to sell me all day"
Thanks for the shoutout. Glad that MAN OF STEEL article resonated with you in any way!
Did you try John Taliaferro's "Tarzan Forever"? That's a good more recent Burroughs bio.
I didn't, but I did just buy it.
Definitely worth it.
