I remember very clearly the editorial in White Dwarf which stated explicitly that it was becoming a trade magazine for GW. Whatever else one may say about that decision, one can’t say they hid their intentions.

If you ever cover ‘Role Player Independent’ and manage to track down the editor, tell him he still owes me for the two ‘Call of Cthulhu’ articles of mine they published in 1994 😐

I believe it was issue #77 that had the infamous "SOD OFF BRYAN ANSELL" sign-off in the Contents page... 😉🤣

I'm not sure if you have any say or 'clout' with the publishers of Adventure Gaming, but when I went to the website to try and buy the 13-issue PDF bundle I simply couldn't because I do not live in the US, which seems preposterous given that I was just trying to buy a digital product. I would've bought some of their other stuff, too, but noticed the 'International' digital stuff was both more expensive and there was much less of it on offer. I don't pretend to understand the politics behind this, but it's $60+ of my money they're not getting. 🤷🤦

I'm sorry that the bundle on their site won't work for purchases outside the US. You can also get them at DriveThruRPG (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/359591/adventure-gaming-no-1).

Thanks, Christian. Not getting at you, but just seemed a bit silly. The bundle isn't available on DriveThruRPG, but good to know the original PDF copies are on there. Thank you. 👍

I would echo the person that said covering UK mags would be nice, including Games Master and The Adventurer (which I wrote a fanzine review column for, actually), but I'm also a big fan of Space Gamer, Fantasy Gamer, Different Worlds, etc. I'd venture Epic Illustrated as well, but that was more comic/fiction-orientated, perhaps? Either way, interesting new series. Ironically I'd like to do something similar for Tabletop SPIRIT Magazine, but with more emphasis on the RPG/Boardgames side of things... 👍

Alex,

I will definitely make sure to do some UK magazines. Thanks for stopping by.

For other non-house magazines - I quite liked Pegasus magazine during its short run

Absolutely. I'll be going through some of those issues and through FGU's very short run Wargamer magazine.

Great initiative! I must admit it won't be an easy job... however the best results are coming from the toughtest achievements! From my side i'd be happy if you could cover the UK magazine market: Imagine on top of it, then Tortured Souls, Fantasy Chronicles, Roleplayer Independent ... these are in my mind but I'm sure the list is not complete. This market to my eyes has had a superior quality compared to the US (which is not valid for the other RPG items)! Thanks

As a reader of Role Player Independent and a user of many of the Cthulhu articles published there, I'd like to say thanks! They were much appreciated!

Anyone remember Games Master International? I loved that magazine and then one day it was just... gone. I'd really enjoy finding out what happened there.
