Formula 1 vs. NASCAR

Tom McCarthy, over at NASCAR.com, compares the Formula 1 circus to the Nextel Cup:

Then there's the technology disparity. No, that's not the right term. Technology chasm. The FW24 was clear proof that the old adage is true: There's no substitute for cubic dollars.

With racing budgets in the nine-digit range, it's clear that Formula One makes precious few concessions to practicality, cost savings or speed reduction. And because they make so few compromises, it's a wonder that Formula One isn't more popular here in the good old U.S. of A. After all, these are the same ideals that we all would like to apply to the cars we drive and watch race on Sundays.

The fellows over at F1Live.com are starting to take notice, especially when Villeneuve says:

"Going to NASCAR might not be such a bad career move. I would not consider it a step down."
