Palestinians Celebrate Liberation with Bonfire!

In a display of tolerance and love, joyful that the Gaza strip has been returned to the World of Islam:

Before dawn, thousands of jubilant Palestinians poured in to the settlement areas, celebrating and setting fire to some of the synagogue buildings deliberately left intact by the departing troops.

The story comes from the Washington Post and credit goes to Devil's Advocate for pointing this out.

To be fair, Palestinian leadership described the synagogues Isreal left behind in the following way:

Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, said the decision was designed "to poke us in the eye" and places Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in the difficult position of either protecting what many Palestinians describe as symbols of the occupation or demolishing religiously symbolic buildings. "If we destroy them ourselves we will be doomed and if they are desecrated we are doomed," Erekat said.

Even with his moderate stance, the some Palestinians were obviously more upset by the fact that synogogues remained in their land than they were with the perceptions of outsiders.

I don't recall hearing stories of Israeli's burning down Mosques.
