Oliver Willis Just Doesn't Get It

Oliver Willis writes in Poor Widdle Michelle that Mrs. Malkin and other Conservatives should "quit taking money from rich white guys and berating your own people, and we'll quit calling you out for the buckrakers that you are. Deal?" The racism and anti-intellectualism inherent in this comment is stunning. No one who isn't white could ever become a Conservative unless they were bought and paid for.

They must be either evil or stupid.

Look at Willis's comments again. Is there any other possible argument that you can draw from them?

Well, yes, you can. But only if you assume that at no point in the history of the world has anyone come to their Conservative beliefs through honest intellectual effort. Willis and those like him assume that at no point has a Conservative every held a theory of justice more complex than: Justice is whatever is good for me and my friends.
