I don't know about you, but when I visit (or live in) a place, I like to find quirky little activities to do on the weekends. One of my favorite things about Los Angeles is the abundance of these types of activities.
The LA Times today has a story covering a Camera Obscura, a kind of natural camera which utilizes a dark space, here.
The Magic Castle, home to magicians of all skill levels, a wonderful place to have dinner and a good time is at this web address.
One of the most interesting kitschie activities, if you can get it arranged, is a visit to the Ackerminimansion. Forrest Ackerman is, in many ways, the father of sci-fi. If not for the volume or quality of his writing, then for his commitment to the genre and its survival. Though he wrote more than you may know and starred in Amazon Women on the Moon.
