As you could all probably guess...

I didn't like the new "Punisher" movie. I probably gave it around 1 and a half stars, at most 2. But I would like to point out a couple of things. First, it wasn't Thomas Jane's fault. He was cool as the Punishman, especially once he got all "punishy" to use someone elses phrase. Second, one of the major problems was how many moments from the recent rebirth of the Punisher title they actually forced into the picture. The film wasn't a direct translation, which might have worked, rather it was its own thing and forcing those scenes in was awkward at best. Third, Rebecca Romjin-Stamos (soon to no longer be a Stamos) just can't act and as her smoking is ruining her skin she is not going to stand the test of time. All this said, I find myself contemplating purchasing the DVD. Why? Well, as I look back I actually had fun with this movie. I guess it takes seeing something you actively don't like, which I did recently, to remember what feeling angry with a movie feels like. I was never angry or disgusted with the "Punisher" just a little bored at first, and I always felt they had inserted stuff just for the R. Not that the Punisher shouldn't be made to be an R, it should, just that the violence scenes didn't seem organic. Probably doesn't make much sense, but that is how I felt. Anyway, I am remembering the film with more warmth now. Whether that means it is worth watching (and upgrading to 2 or 21/2 stars), or whether it means my sentiments are being deluded by time (like Hawk the Slayer, classic dammit classic!) I don't know.

Besides Thomas Jane visited Comic Con, and not just to be on a panel either (that would be Keanu). No he actually walked the floor and talked with one of my favorite cartoonists.

And when actors do things like that, I become VERY forgiving. The "Punisher" is now officially, for the next 2 seconds anyway, the best Comic Book movie ever.

Okay the moment passed, it isn't the greatest, but I will still buy it.
