Re: Mariners

I don't know Christian. Every team has numbers that can be pointed to that makes them seem like an excellent team. One of which is gold glove at first base. If I was putting together a baseball team I wouldn't want to tell people first that my first baseman has a gold glove. I would want one that could deliver more than 10 homeruns a year. That is a 30/100 spot. Additionally, the M's have way too many players on the wrong side of 30. Granted, age is not dispositive but it does make the injury bug and fatigue throughout the season a little more serious.

Simply put, the Mariners won't make any runs at the World Series until they add a little more youth to the everyday line up. I think the reality of the Mariners position is that they are now the 3rd best team in the West. They are respectable but don't expect too much from them this year in terms of playoff potential. Sure, they will beat their fair share of the teams they are supposed to beat but expect .500 +/- 5 at the end of the year.

I am not sure if the A's or the Angels will take the top honors in the West, but it will be one of the two.
